Thank you for taking time to learn more about me.

 MY STORY

The first thing to know is that I am an extrovert! I thrive when interacting with other people, and I love making connections. I am high-energy and one former boss referred to me as the “energizer bunny.” I successfully juggle being married to a combat veteran, raising twins, and navigating the healthcare needs for my son who has autism while enjoying a successful career. I bring this same energy to my work.

I truly love policy. I enjoy digging into issues, going beyond talking points and understanding the “why”.

Yet, when I approach policy issues, I bring a 100,000-foot mindset and see the forest for the trees. Our world is becoming increasingly automated with each passing day. I understand the technology space and am skilled in translating how policy impacts industry. Regardless of the sector, cybersecurity, privacy, and AI are all relevant.

Let’s face it though – policy can be dry. I bring a sense of levity and humor when breaking down technical issues for layperson audiences – something that is required every day in Washington. I excel at thawing the ice, putting people at ease, and making friends. I comfortable interacting with all levels from lawmakers and c-suite executives to those in the trenches.

Given the intensity of my work, I use yoga to help me stay grounded. I teach hot power yoga locally and you may also find me teaching yoga at conferences in the early morning and on stage a few hours later discussing policy. I recently did a five-minute reset - prior to teaching a full class - for the maintenance staff at a JW Marriott hotel where my organization was hosting an event. I prioritize my team’s wellness and mental health, and I focus on leading by example.

I also have a growing interest in antique trucks. My son loves them, and I re-homed a 1970 blue Chevy owned by my paternal grandfather in Minnesota when no one else in the family wanted it. I founded a yoga-themed small business, Blue Truck Wellness, which I launched during the pandemic, and this truck was my inspiration for the name of my business.

When I am not working, spending time with my twins, or doing yoga, I enjoy travelling. Finally, thanks to my parents I have mid-west roots. I try always to be “the better person” and take the high road and this carries through to my work ethic.
